P3D v4 Development in Parallel with X-Plane 11
Skyline Simulations, formerly Icarus Simulations, has just announced that they are starting parallel development for P3D v4 along with X-Plane 11. This is good news for us P3D folks, as it means we have another developer to make some much needed airports for P3D. X-Plane users don’t despair! Skyline Simulations has stated that X-Plane development will not be affected.
Cincinnati Airport (KCVG)
The first airport they have announced is Cincinnati (KCVG) Definitive! The developer is a native of Cincinnati and has witness the aircraft’s many transitions from a busy hub to a ghost town. Now, the airport has been renovated and has received Southwest service making it a hub once again! Skyline Simulations stated that this new CVG will be “the most detailed and complete simulation of KCVG ever developed!” A bold statement, but it will be interesting and possibly amazing to see to how it turns out.
You can read more about the history of Cincinnati airport here.
Waterloo Airport (KALO)
Waterloo airport is a small regional airport serving American Eagle. It will be Skyline Simulation’s second release for the P3D v4 platform and will follow the CVG release for X-Plane.
Chicago O’Hare Airport (KORD)
Finally!!! The last version of Chicago O’Hare airport is several years old and is very inaccurate. If any of you have been keeping up with the insane changes being made at O’Hare, this lack of updates results in the airport looking NOTHING like what it does today. Not only does this cause glitches where you are landing on top of people or tune in the incorrect localizer frequency, it also messes up controllers online! Previously, the only solution was to grab an AFCAD, but simmers were forced to sacrifice quality for accuracy. No longer! Skyline Simulations will develop an up-to-date and accurate representation of Chicago O’Hare Airport for both the Prepar3D v4 and X-Plane 11 platforms! No doubt the Flight Simulator community will be looking forward to this one!
Toronto Billy Bishop Airport (CYTZ)
According to the developer, this airport has been in development and is progressing well. It would be interesting to see this island airport show up in both P3D and X-Plane.
Skyline Simulations assures us that they have a large team divided to work on each airport. This means that completion will be relatively quick, resulting in more airports than us. I just hope that they put quality above quantity. Stay tuned for more information regarding Skyline Simulations!
