A promise has been kept!! This is something that usually doesn’t happen in the flight sim world, but it has now! After the earlier announcement, Matt Davies from ProjectFly has announced that we will be able to get our hands on v3.0 on Tuesday January 16th, 2018. It will initially be released as an open beta, meaning that there may be issues, and features will be added later on. Matt asks you to “please report [any bugs] using the support section of the app, and [they’ll] resolve them. Without people reporting bugs, [they] can’t possibly fix them so don’t be shy.” The open beta will last a few weeks, when the old site will be removed and the new site will become permanent.
The Open Beta
The old site will be available during the open beta. This means that if you run into an issue that breaks the website, you can always switch back. Furthermore, everyone using the open beta will have their account upgraded to platinum for the duration of the beta. Thanks Matt!
Beta Release Transition
Since the new update contains a lot of new features, ProjectFly needs to perform some maintenance. This will occur between 0300z and 0600z on Tuesday morning. Matt asks everyone to try not to fly during that time. Now I know that’s hard for some of you (hehe), but even if you just can’t resist the urge for 3 hours, your flight data will be safe. The reason Matt doesn’t want people to fly, is that any flights done during the maintenance period will have to be manually added to the system. They don’t mind doing this, but it will be tedious.
Matt will be live streaming the release on his Twitch Channel, so go ahead and check out there on Tuesday at 1500z!
