Earlier today two aviation juggernauts reached an agreement on a new joint venture. For those who have kept tabs on the aviation industry this comes as no surprise. Since Airbus purchased the CSeries from Bombardier, Boeing has been looking at merging or creating a joint venture with regional jet producer in Embraer. Boeing does not have an entrant into the regional jet market as their focus has been the larger jet market. This new joint venture will see Boeing hold 80% of Embraers commercial market, an estimated value of $3.8 billion. This is a huge development in an industry that could now feature just two major companies controlling the market. It will be interesting to see in the coming months if this deal will hold. Either way this truly becoming a two horse race.
